AWS Graviton5 launch makes AI-infrastructure economics a question, not a conclusion
AWS says Graviton5 is now generally available to customers, with the company claiming its most powerful and efficient CPU yet and up to 25% better performance. AWS’s X account posted that EC2 M9g and M9gd instances are now available, but extracted EC2 documentation, pricing, regions, and benchmark methodology were not included in the research pack. Secondary technical coverage reports 192 Arm V3 cores, DDR5-8800, PCIe Gen6, and AWS-reported AI-inference improvements, supporting the hardware-upgrade frame while still leaning on company claims. The open question is whether Graviton5 changes AI workload economics in practice: the available evidence supports AWS’s positioning around agentic AI-era CPU workloads, but not reduced GPU dependence, customer migration, or margin impact.
